Description
Calpine Texas CCUS Holdings LLC, with Electricore Inc., is conducting a FEED study for a modular post-combustion CO₂ capture system at the Deer Park Energy Center NGCC plant in Texas. Using Shell’s commercial-scale amine technology, the system will capture 95% of emissions—about 5 MTPA—while maintaining low energy use and fast reaction rates. The study will include business case, techno-economic, life cycle, environmental, and public policy analyses, including environmental justice and job creation impacts.

Description
Southern Company Services, with Linde Gas North America, is conducting a FEED study for a commercial-scale CO₂ capture system using Linde-BASF’s advanced aqueous amine technology at an NGCC plant of at least 375 MWe. The project will evaluate Alabama Power’s Plant Barry and Mississippi Power’s Plant Daniel to select the optimal host site, define project requirements, optimize process design, and deliver engineering packages along with a cost and schedule estimate within 15% accuracy. The study will build on prior feasibility work and site-specific testing.

Description
The Peterhead CCS Project in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, was designed to demonstrate the world’s first commercial-scale post-combustion CO₂ capture from a gas-fired power station. Using amine-based CANSOLV technology, it aimed to capture around one million tonnes of CO₂ annually from one turbine at SSE’s Peterhead Power Station, compress and condition it, and transport it via a new offshore pipeline for injection into the depleted Goldeneye gas reservoir over 2 km beneath the North Sea. The FEED study defined project scope, refined CAPEX and OPEX estimates, and assessed cost uncertainties, providing a basis for the Execute phase while also documenting budget performance and emergent costs during FEED.
