Killingholme Low Carbon Power
The Killingholme Low Carbon Power (KLCP) project is a proposed new-build combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station with an integrated post-combustion carbon capture plant, being developed by Uniper UK Limited at North Killingholme in the Humber region of Lincolnshire, England, adjacent to Uniper's existing Killingholme power station site. The CCGT was previously consented under C.GEN Killingholme Ltd (as the North Killingholme Power Project); Uniper acquired the land and existing consent in 2025 and is adding the carbon capture plant to the project scope, with the capture plant sized to reduce CO₂ emissions from CCGT power generation and designed to connect into nearby third-party CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure serving the Humber cluster for permanent offshore sequestration. Uniper launched a public consultation on the carbon capture element from November 11 to December 9, 2025 with a detailed planning application planned for early 2026; if consented, both the CCGT and carbon capture plant could be delivered from 2030. The project is part of Uniper's approximately €8 billion group-level growth and transformation capital programme through the early 2030s. Capture capacity, CCGT nameplate, capture technology vendor, storage counterparty, and capex have not yet been publicly disclosed.
