Polk Storage Complex
The Polk Carbon Storage Complex (PCSC), led by Tampa Electric Company (TEC), is a Class VI carbon storage project located near the Polk Power Station in Florida. The project includes three injection wells (PSC_IW1, PSC_IW2, and PSC_IW3) targeting the Upper Cretaceous Permeable Zone 1 (UCPZ-1), which consists of the Lower Cedar Keys Dolomite and the Upper and Lower Lawson formations. These reservoirs are overlain by thick anhydrite and shale layers that provide strong geologic confinement. The wells are designed to inject CO₂ at depths greater than 4,000 feet, where conditions ensure that the gas remains in a supercritical state for permanent storage.
