The CPS Central Louisiana Regional Carbon Storage Hub (CENLA Hub) is being developed into one of the largest onshore CO₂ storage centers in the U.S., with over 20,000 acres of contracted underground space and a potential capacity exceeding two billion tons. Stratigraphic testing has confirmed multiple injection zones, and CPS has already filed two Class VI well applications in Rapides and Vernon Parishes, each designed to support up to six wells and enable storage of 7.5 million tons per year. Several major partnerships anchor the project, including Energy Transfer and Southwest Energy Company, which plan to capture CO₂ from Haynesville natural gas facilities, with Energy Transfer also exploring joint hub development. Additional commitments include Bia Energy’s blue methanol project in Shreveport and Heirloom’s two planned direct air capture plants, both designating the CENLA Hub as their storage partner. Current contracted volumes already amount to nearly 2 million tons annually, with CPS actively marketing carbon management services to other Haynesville producers and Louisiana industrial emitters.
